Child seats & family policy: how we transport kids—safely and comfortably

Who this page is for

Families flying into Denver International Airport (DIA) or Eagle-Vail Airport (EGE) and heading into the Vail Valley with infants, toddlers, school-age kids – plus skis, strollers, and winter bags. If you want a private AWD airport transfer with the right child seats ready and installed before you arrive, this page explains how we handle booking, seating, and day-of timing for families traveling to Vail, Beaver Creek, or Keystone.

The winter problem for families

Snow, cold wind, tight curbs at hotel valets, and tired kids do not mix well with shared shuttles or pieced-together rides. Add car seats, strollers, and ski gear, and every extra stop multiplies the stress. Waiting outside for a shuttle or hunting for a rideshare can turn a simple transfer into a long, noisy experience for you and the kids.

What most families actually need is simple: a warm vehicle staged at the door, child seats already installed, room for skis and strollers inside the cabin, and a driver who helps with bags so everyone can sit down and buckle up in just a few minutes.

The solution: private AWD, pre-installed seats, zero detours

We run AWD SUVs (Cadillac Escalade ESV and 2023 GMC Yukon XL Denali) and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans (two configurations) on winter tires, specifically for mountain roads. Wi-Fi and bottled water are standard; child seats are available on request. Your driver meets you at arrivals at
DIA
or
EGE,
or at the lobby of your hotel or condo, helps with strollers and ski bags, and then drives non-stop to your exact address – without shared pickups, loops, or unwanted detours.

Many families pair this airport leg with
local transportation in Vail
for dinners, shopping, ski school, or activities during the stay, so they never have to move their own car or think about parking with kids and gear.

Seating placement in the cabin (what to expect)

  • SUVs (Escalade / Yukon). We normally prioritize the 2nd row for infant and toddler seats so it’s easy to reach, buckle, and unbuckle children. Boosters may ride in the 2nd or 3rd row, depending on belt geometry and how many kids you have. Adults are placed where communication and access to kids is easiest.
  • Sprinter. Child seats are installed only on seats with three-point belts. We stage rows so that siblings can sit together when possible, and we keep at least one adult close to the youngest child for snacks, toys, and quick help with buckles.
  • Strollers, diaper bags & skis. Diaper bags and small carry-ons ride within reach in the cabin; strollers and larger bags go just behind the seating area. Skis and snowboards ride inside the vehicle, secured and dry – not on an exposed rack – so gear is ready to use when you arrive.

Common family scenarios

  • Infant + toddler + gear.
Rear-facing infant seat and forward-facing toddler seat in the 2nd row; diaper bag and small toys close at hand; stroller and ski bag secured in the rear. The vehicle meets you at DIA or EGE and drives straight to your hotel in
    Vail
    or
    Beaver Creek,
with no extra stops and no shuttle transfers.
  • School-age siblings + grandparents.
In a Sprinter, boosters can ride together in one row so siblings stay side by side; grandparents often sit near the sliding door for easier entry and exit. Bags ride in the rear. This setup works well for families staying in the Vail Valley and planning dinners out, spa visits, or events – especially when combined with
    hourly local transportation.
  • Late arrival with small kids.
For late flights into DIA or EGE, we aim for a pre-warmed, quiet vehicle staged at arrivals. Kids can fall asleep in their seats while you ride non-stop to your lodging instead of waiting for a shuttle or making multiple transfers in the cold.
  • DIA → Keystone family trip.
    Families heading from DIA to
    Keystone Ski Resort
often choose a setup with two or more child seats and room for multiple ski bags. For more detail on this specific route, see our dedicated guide
“DIA → Keystone family transfers with child seats – made simple”.

Formats & timing

  • Point-to-point. Fastest option for airport ↔ lodging: one pickup, one drop-off, non-stop. This is the most common format for
    DIA → Vail,
EGE → Vail / Beaver Creek,
    and similar routes with kids.
  • Hourly / as-directed. Best if you want to add stops for grocery shopping, ski rentals, or to visit multiple addresses in one outing. The vehicle stays with you, so you can load and unload once and move at the family’s pace.
  • Winter windows. For DIA arrivals, we often recommend mid-day (roughly 10:00–14:00) or later in the evening after 19:00 to avoid peak I-70 waves when possible. On the day of travel, we confirm a conservative pickup time that balances safety and schedule, and we can adjust if conditions change.

Pricing & how to book

Quotes are provided in advance by route, date, and vehicle type, so you know your total before you travel. For planning across routes, typical one-way totals for private vehicles run in roughly the $250–$1,400 range, with a 10% gratuity already included in the quote. FAQ

Can you guarantee rear-facing seats?
Yes. When you book, tell us how many rear-facing seats you need and share your children’s ages and approximate weights. We set aside the right number and types of seats and install them before we meet you.

Can you install our own seat?
Yes. You are welcome to bring your own child seat. Bring the manual if you have it; your driver will help install the seat and then you can double-check the fit together before departure.

Do you have multiple boosters?
Yes. We can provide multiple booster seats for siblings or friends traveling together. Just request the count in advance so we can stage the correct vehicle and seating layout.

What information do you need about our children?
For best fit, we ask for ages and approximate weights, plus whether each child needs a rear-facing seat, forward-facing seat, or booster. This helps us prepare the right mix of seats and assign the correct vehicle.

Can we get local rides after arrival?
Yes. After your airport transfer, we can provide
local transportation around Vail and Beaver Creek
on a point-to-point or hourly basis for ski school, grocery runs, dinners, and activities, so you don’t have to re-install seats in a different vehicle.
