DIA/EGE → Aspen/Snowmass: when to choose private transfer
Who this page is for
Travelers heading to Aspen, Snowmass Base Village, Aspen Highlands, or Buttermilk who want a clear plan for winter arrivals: fly or drive, when to go, and where exactly we drop you at hotels and residences.
Fly vs. drive: a simple decision framework
Choose to drive from DIA when your schedule is tight, you’re traveling with kids/gear, or you want to avoid potential winter airline delays into the mountains. A private AWD ride is non-stop, door-to-door, with space for skis and bags.
Choose to drive from EGE (Eagle County) if you’re already in Vail Valley or your flight arrives there—ground time to Aspen/Snowmass is short and predictable.
If you’re ticketed to ASE but weather looks marginal, keep a ground-transfer backup from DIA or EGE. In winter, mountain airports can see holds or diversions; an AWD plan keeps your day on track.

Winter realities & route logic
Independence Pass (CO-82) is closed in winter. All winter routing to Aspen runs via I-70 → Glenwood Springs → CO-82 into the valley.
Traction rules and snow operations on I-70 favor AWD + winter tires. That’s our fleet standard, with experienced mountain drivers.
Typical travel times (plan with a buffer)
DIA → Aspen/Snowmass: ~3.5–4.5 hours, conditions permitting.
EGE (Eagle) → Aspen/Snowmass: ~1.5–2 hours in normal conditions.
Storms, holiday peaks, or nighttime departures can add time; we’ll advise a conservative pickup window when we confirm.
Where we stage and drop you
Aspen core (Aspen Mountain): hotel valets and guest curbs near the pedestrian zone.
Snowmass Base Village: designated drop zones by the plaza/valet; easy access to condos and the gondola.
Aspen Highlands & Buttermilk: guest drop lanes near lift portals; we coordinate with resort staff for quick loading.
As always, we escort you the final steps in pedestrian-only areas.
What “door-to-door” includes
Private, non-shared transfer on your schedule—no shuttle loops
AWD SUVs/Sprinter, winter tires, and drivers experienced with mountain passes
Wi-Fi & bottled water onboard; child seats available on request
Ski/snowboard handling and luggage assistance at both ends
Vehicles
AWD SUVs: Cadillac Escalade ESV, 2023 GMC Yukon XL Denali
Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (two configurations) for families and groups
Smarter timing (winter “windows”)
From DIA: plan departures 10:00–14:00 or after 19:00 to miss Front Range peaks; avoid launching into an active storm cell if you can shift by a few hours.
From EGE: midday is typically smooth through Glenwood Canyon; in heavy snow, allow an extra 20–40 minutes.
Evening arrivals: we pre-warm the vehicle and stage as close to the exit/valet as rules allow.
Step-by-step: what happens on the day
Book & share flight number, party size, and gear counts.
Meet & Greet at DIA/EGE arrivals; we text vehicle/driver details on landing.
Load & go—skis/boards ride inside; fragile items can ride in the cabin area on request.
Non-stop to your address in Aspen, Snowmass, Highlands, or Buttermilk.
Optional return/standby service for dinner plans or next-day moves.
